The industry body said the export of soyabean meal revived during the year and reported at 21.33 lakh tonnes in 2023-24 fiscal, compared to 10.22 lakh tonnes in 2022-23 as Indian soybean meal was most competitive in the international market.

India imported 4.65 million metric tons of pulses in the year ended March 31, 2024, the highest since fiscal 2018, and up from 2.53 million tons imported a year ago, according to provisional data shared by a government official who declined to be named.

The trend continued into the fiscal year FY 2023-24 as well, available data from April 2023 to January 2024 painting a grim picture. India’s exports to ASEAN amounted to USD 32,713.01 million during this period.
