JNPA records nearly 12 pc rise in Oct container traffic

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) reported an 11.86% year-on-year increase in container traffic, reaching 6,14,651 TEUs in October. This growth was driven by a surge in container rakes and overall cargo handling. Over the past seven months, total container traffic at JNPA surged by 13.12%, while total cargo rose by 5.6%.

Paradip Port aims to become fully mechanised by 2030 by developing three new berths and mechanising four existing ones. It will also establish a special green hydrogen berth. The port plans to boost its handling capacity from 289 MTPA to 400 MTPA by 2030, with further expansion to 500 MTPA by 2047.

The IWAI successfully began dredging in the Neamati-Kamalabari channel to resume ferry services. Using CSD Alakananda and Tug Boat Khudiram Bose, they removed silt to reclaim 2 meters of depth. Ferry services between Majuli and Jorhat, which were disrupted, are now functional again, ensuring seamless connectivity for citizens.

TVS Industrial & Logistics Parks will invest Rs 200 crore to set up a new facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. The 20-acre logistics park, located near Indore, aims to cater to the region’s demand for quality warehousing. This project is expected to generate employment for over 1,000 people and improve logistics efficiency.
