Expressing concern on Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with Japan, Australia, UAE, and South Korea, the minister said that utilisation of benefits are very poor in India. He also said that Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will spend Rs. 40 crore for setting up 21 testing laboratories across the country.

”Guidelines for the green transition of inland waterway vessels will be introduced during the first meeting of the Inland Waterway Development Council (IWDC). The initial target is to support transition of 1,000 vessels, ferries and boats over the next 10 years under the programme,” Minister Sonowal said. This first IWDC is scheduled for January 8.
