Gautam Adani, the Chairman of Adani Group, is capitalising on a decline in China’s global ambitions, especially through projects like the Belt and Road Initiative. Adani is competing with China by developing a terminal at Colombo port in Sri Lanka, supported by over half a billion dollars of US investment, as part of India’s strategy to curtail China’s influence in South Asia.
